Environmental Policy

May 2000

It is Lanoga Corporation’s longstanding philosophy to conduct our business with an environmental awareness and to operate in a manner that causes minimal environmental impact.  Over time the trends affecting our company and industry, standards by which we are measured, and tools available to us in this and every other facet of our business continue to evolve.  We are committed to staying abreast of these changes and adapting our policies and practices accordingly.

With respect to the environment it is Lanoga’s policy to:

·         Maintain an organizational commitment to education and involvement regarding environmental issues affecting our industry and our company.

·         Employ our influence within the industry to promote the development and adoption of sound environmental practices and sustainable forestry management.

·         Increase the representation of  “environmentally friendly” products in our offerings where such claims can be reasonably substantiated and based, wherever possible, on scientifically credible product life cycle assessment criteria.

·         Meet or exceed the requirements of applicable governmental laws and regulations dealing with environmental protection that pertain to our operations and expect the same from the vendors and manufacturers of the products we sell.

·         Be attentive and responsive to the desires of our customers in our individual markets with respect to the environmental impact of our operations and the products we sell.

In support of this philosophy and policy Lanoga is committed to the following actions:

 ·        We will join with forestry groups and the industry to help define and identify

environmentally “endangered” forests through scientifically credible means, with the goal

of phasing out our purchase of wood products from those areas to the extent possible by

         the end of 2002.

·         We will continue to review the tools available to evaluate, assure and promote sustainable forestry practices and utilize those judged to offer the best overall balance and opportunity for success.

·         We will encourage our suppliers to increase the availability of third party independently certified wood products and, as those products become more available and competitive, we will give purchasing preference to them and increase their representation in our product offerings.

·         We will encourage efforts to optimize the utilization of wood fiber resources.

·         We will support the development of wood product alternatives based on scientific product life cycle assessment criteria.

·         Most importantly, we will continue to maintain a clear focus on our customers’ needs and desires and weigh our decisions and actions with respect to potential impacts on them.
