Paul Hylbert, President and CEO of Lanoga Corporation, will be honored for his leadership at City of Hope’s annual Spirit of Life® Award dinner, May 18 at the Venetian Hotel Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The Spirit of Life Award, presented by the Hardware/Home Improvement Industry (H/HI) for City of Hope, is the highest philanthropic honor bestowed by the world-renowned cancer center and recognizes honorees’ notable contributions to both their community and profession. Tickets for the gala event are $500 and proceeds benefit research, treatment and education programs at City of Hope Cancer Center.

Held in conjunction with the 2005 National Hardware Show, the Spirit of Life benefit begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception in the Venetian Ballroom and is followed by a dinner show and live auction. Sponsorship packages and tables are available.

The H/HI will kickoff its 24th annual Spirit of Life fund-raising campaign with the 2005 Home Builders Golf Tournament, taking place January 12 at the Celebration Golf Club in Greater Orlando, Fla. In its second year, this golf benefit will unite leading executives from the hardware and home building industries for an enjoyable afternoon of golf and camaraderie to benefit City of Hope Cancer Center. Paul W. Hylbert, Jr., has spent his entire business career in the building materials industry. After 21 years with Wickes in a variety of field and head office positions, Hylbert joined with division management to purchase Sequoia Supply from the parent company in 1987, when he became Sequoia’s president and CEO.

In 1990, Sequoia merged with the Grip Rite Group to form PrimeSource, which became the world’s largest packager/distributor of residential fasteners before it was sold to Itochu International in 1998.

In 2001, Hylbert was appointed president and CEO of Lanoga Corporation. Hylbert is originally from West Virginia and grew up in the Chicago area. He holds a B.A. from Denison University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He donates his time to numerous philanthropic activities, including City of Hope, Zion Preparatory Academy, Denison University, Homebuilding Community Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Families Northwest and Washington Roundtable. “Having been a part of our industry involvement with City of Hope since the late 1970’s, and having seen the great work done by the City of Hope professionals to find cures and treatments for cancer and other life-threatening diseases, I am pleased and proud to be a partner in the 2005 Spirit of Life Campaign,” said Hylbert.
